Puppy in my pocket

So today we took the girls to Walmart because they had saved up some money and wanted to buy something. Kelly found this little package of dogs called "Puppy in my pocket." It comes with several puppies, but only one little carrying case to hook on to your pocket. Well, that didn't satisfy Kelly. So, she walked out of her room to show us how she solved the problem. If you look closely, you'll see what I mean!

Finally! A BREAK!!!

Well, he finally finished! Shane has officially taken the bar. We won't find out if he passed or not until October, but it's hard to believe that he wouldn't. Friday and Saturday my parents watched the girls so we could finally have a break and celebrate after all that work. Friday night we went out to a restaurant called Seviche. We went with some friends of ours and ended up staying for almost 2 1/2 hours! We did the full experience. We ordered Appetizers, Main course, and dessert. And you know it's a fancy place when they hand you the dessert menu and there are no prices on it! YIKES! We have NEVER spent that much on a meal before, but let me tell you...... it was the best food and SOOOO worth it!

Afterwards we went to the movies since we hadn't been to the movie theater together in almost a year. We watched Transformers and to my surprise it was a lot of fun! The next morning we slept in until 11:00am. We had grand ideas of doing something cool on Saturday, but we were just too lazy. Instead we went to Denny's and had breakfast. Then we went comparison shopping for a dresser for the kids room. Later we helped clean the church building. Did I mention we really know how to have fun??? After cleaning we went to Shogun's Japanese restaurant (the kind where they cook in front of you). Our cook was by far the most un-enthusiastic cook in the entire building. Lucky for us we met another couple that sat at our table and we had some good laughs with them.

We are sooooooooooo relieved that school is finally done for Shane and that he can actually focus on work for the first time. Hopefully waiting for the results of the bar won't be too dreadful!

This video that I am posting has nothing to do with our "celebration" weekend, I just had to post it because it is really funny.

4th of July Activity

Moon Sand is the worst invention EVER!

Since the girls just LOVE to do arts and crafts, I thought this would be a fun activity for them. This time of the year it's too hot to be outside for too long and when you are outside the bugs will eat you alive. The commercial made it seem like it could be played with inside and not really make a big mess. Stupid me believed it and gave it a try. Sure the girls loved playing with it -- it's just like playing with moist beach sand. The problem is that it gets everywhere just like beach sand. I had a HUGE plastic mat on the floor PLUS large square containers for the girls to play with it in. Obviously it didn't stay in for too long. As they would make shapes and other things the sand would inevitably fall out over the sides and stick to their legs/arms/clothes. Then, before I could grab them, they would stand up to walk over and get something thus furthering the mess. When they were finished, I scraped off as much moon sand as I could from their legs and feet, but I could only get so much off. I then carried them to the bathtubs to rinse them off. Of course that made a HUGE mess in the bathtub that took forever to get clean. The sand just clung on to the sides of the bathtub. Even though it looks clean, you can still feel particles of it all over the bathtub. So as a cautionary tale to all of you parents/grand parents out there -- DO NOT BUY MOON SAND!!!!

Still preparing for the bar....

I can't believe he's STILL studying for the bar. Ugh! Shane graduated from Law school the beginning of May, had one week off, and then had bar classes that following week. Basically his day starts at about 7:30 in the morning and he doesn't come home until 10:30 at night. It's just insane! The girls and I are staying fairly sane. Occasionally we will take Shane to school so we can have the car to get out. But for the most part we just hang out around here.

So today the UPS man stopped by while I was still in my pajamas (and no.... he didn't stop by early in the morning). I was really curious as to what could be in the box since we didn't order anything. I opened it up to find 30 COPIES of Shane's note that he got published in the schools law journal. My first thought was "Awww.... my baby got published!" And then I thought "What the HECK are we gonna do with 30 copies?" Apparently the school gives you 30 copies for free if you get published to give to family members and friends. But still.......... 30 copies???? So, basically I have decided that everyone is getting a copy for Christmas. I bet you are SO excited. Shane says I have to read it, but we all know I'm not the reading type. Especially when it comes to extremely boring law related junk.
